On Friday February 17th, Brad Fisher a veteran welder for Clark Metal Products presented his knowledge and the skill required to become a welder to approximately 25 students at Rayne Elementary school. For the second year in a row, Brad has volunteered his time to participate in Career café. Career Café is a program made up of family and community volunteers that have careers similar to the ones students are interested in. During the student’s lunch, guest speakers talk about their careers. Brad said “We had a great group of kids that were truly engaged in the field of welding. A few of the students who knew about welding asked specific questions about the type of welds and also wanted to know what kinds of things Clark Metal makes. “It’s rewarding to see these young students interested in welding.” Clark is very proud of Brad’s participation in Career Café and the how the school’s workshop is raising awareness of the trades. We could only hope that through these workshops one day one of these students may choose welding as their career choice.
