What's so Cool about Manufacturing - Student Video contest Winners. Congratulations to our partnering school - Blairsville-Saltsburg School District. They were awarded the Best Marketing Plan.
Several groups of area students recently got a first-hand look at some of the region’s top manufacturing facilities as part of the Catalyst Connection’s What’s So Cool About Manufacturing Student Video Contest.
The hands-on experience culminated with an event held at the Pitt-Johnstown campus last week, where several local school districts were recognized for their video content.
The focus of our video contest was to get young people connected around the concept of what makes manufacturing cool. This contest gave students a ‘hands-on’ experience into the world of manufacturing, showing them how important manufacturing is to nearly everyone, everywhere.”
For the video, eight manufacturing companies were paired with seven school districts, from Cambria, Somerset and Indiana counties, whose students were encouraged to interview employees and go behind the scenes to learn about the manufacturing industry. Each team submitted its video to Catalyst Connection in Pittsburgh PA, and voting took place on online.
The contest yielded more than 48,000 votes over a five-day period.
Award winners include: Best Manufacturing Message – Greater Johnstown with Lockheed Martin; Most Creative – Rockwood Area with ASSA ABLOY; Viewer’s Choice – Rockwood Area with ASSA ABLOY; Best Marketing Plan – Blairsville-Saltsburg with Clark Metal Products; and Bonus Video on Community Impact – Forest Hills with JWF Industries.
Congratulations to the Blairsville Saltsburg students: Francis Benko, Jolene Cribbs, Daniel McGinity, Bryce Miller, Paige Podolski, Gloriannys Santiago, Jackson Vukman and Teacher: Mr. Mike Funyak.
